Fashion is a general term for a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion refers to a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses or to prevailing styles in behaviour. Fashion also refers to the newest creations of textile designers. The more technical term costume has become so linked to the term "fashion" that the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while "fashion" means clothing more generally, including the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous.

Mindervalide mannequins stellen 'perfectie' aan de kaak

Op een populaire winkelstraat in Zürich werden voorbijgangers geconfronteerd met mindervalide mannequins. Het project, getiteld 'Because Who Is Perfect? Get Closer', stond in teken van de internationale dag van mensen met een beperking (3 december).

Het is een iniatief van Pro Infirmis, een organisatie voor mensen met een handicap, om de zichtbaarheid van lichamen die afwijken van de idealen in de modewereld te vergroten en meteen ook de vastgeroeste "perfectie" aan te kaarten. De afgeborstelde lichamen van paspoppen stemmen namelijk maar overeen met een heel klein percentage van de bevolking. Voor mensen met een fysieke beperking is het al helemaal ondenkbaar om mannequins in het straatbeeld te zien die herkenbaar zijn.
